Arnis
Cimdars was born on June 8, 1962. Educated as architectural
engineer at Latvia University of Agriculture. Became
a Member of the Central Election Commission of Latvia
in January 1997. On December 11, 1997 elected as the
Chairman of the CEC of Latvia, re-elected for the 2nd
(1999) and 3rd (2003). Organized parliamentary elections
in 1998, 2002; local elections in 1997, 2001 and 2005;
national referenda in 1998, 1999, 2003, as well as the
first European Parliament elections in 2004. Observed
elections in Austria, the Ukraine, Lithuania, Estonia,
Poland, Belarus, Denmark, Sweden and US Congress elections
in 2002. Participated in OSCE Office for Democratic
Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) mission for observing
parliamentary elections in Scotland 2003. Member of
the ACEEEO since 1997. In 2000 became the Executive
Board Member, in April 2005 - President of the Executive
Board of the ACEEEO.
