1. INVITATION FOR THE ANNUAL CONFERENCE
How could the ICT systems be more effective in the election process? How can the security of information ensured through the ICT system of the elections? What are the technical obstacles of further development of ICT systems? How could the social media support the work of electoral management bodies? What are the legal and administrative tools with that the electoral stakeholders need to reflect on the appearance of the social media in electoral campaign?
If you are interested in these questions you should participate in the 22 Conference of Association of European Election Officials (ACEEEO) with the topic 'The role of information and communication technology and social media in elections' to discuss them with highly-qualified professionals of the themes, members of election management bodies, representatives of international organizations and other electoral stakeholders.
The 22nd Annual Conference of the Association, co-organised by the National Electoral Commission of Poland will be held on 12 – 14 September 2013, in Warsaw, Poland.
Plenary sessions will focus on the two subtopics: • Development of technologies in election processes since 2000 • The challenges of the social media development in election matters

Experts' Database
In order to ensure targeted assistance for electoral stakeholders of the region and to share the experiences between the EMBs the Secretariat decided to update the database of the experts of the ACEEEO member countries. We kindly ask all the Members to fill in the table with required information. Thank you for your kind assistance in advance.
3. CALL FOR PUBLICATION
Elections in Europe Volume IX: call for articles
The 9th issue of ACEEEO's yearly professional publication, the Elections in Europe will be published in 2013. The Secretariat calls election professionals and PhD researchers to send relevant articles in the topic of
'Development of Voting Technologies since 2000'
and
'The challenges of the Social Media development in electoral matters'
This issue – in harmony with the main topics of our annual conference of 2013 – aims to present the current situation and the development of the last 13 years in the field of the use of modern technology in the electoral procedure and to analyse the role of social media in the work of electoral stakeholders, particularly electoral management bodies. Relevant articles shall describe the general overall situation or a special case within the frame of this topic.
The article shall not exceed the length of 4500 or 8000 characters (1200 or 2000 words). Articles shall be sent in English and/or in Russian to Mr. Stepan Ahiy, head of editorial office at stepan.ahiy@aceeeo.org. Due date of collecting articles is 31 May 2013.
