23rd Annual Conference and General Assembly Meeting of ACEEEO
4-6 September 2014, Bucharest, Romania
The 23rd annual conference and the General Assembly Meeting of the ACEEEO were held in Bucharest, Romania on 4-6 September 2014. The event was hosted by the Permanent Electoral Authority of Romania.
The topics of the conference were 'Participation of Women in Electoral Process and Public Life' and 'Planning of a General Election’. The framework was provided for the celebration of the 10 years anniversary of the Permanent Electoral Authority of Romania, too. According to our tradition, in the prospect of our annual conference the possibilities were suggested for regional and cross-regional consultations, networking as well as for learning on recent developments in election technology.
The discussion of 160 electoral professionals from 47 countries consisted of the representatives of electoral management bodies, professionals of international organizations and academics who acquainted with their experiences both from a theoretical and practical point of view. Institutional matters: new presidency
On its meeting on 4 September 2014, the General Assembly of ACEEEO decided that the Association shall held its 24th Annual Conference and General Assembly Meeting in 2014 in Chisinau, Moldova. According to the Charter it means that the position of the President of ACEEEO will be held for the following year by the chairperson of Central Election Commission of Moldova, Dr. Iurie Ciocan.
New volume of Elections in Europe
Connected to the Annual Conference, the 10th volume of ACEEEO’s annual journal deals with the topics 'Women in Elections' and 'Planning of a General Election. It deals also with the electoral issues of Romania as a focus country.
Continuing the series of workshops concerning the Hungarian parliamentary elections organised in spring of 2014, the ACEEEO Secretariat and its partner, the Mathias Corvinus Collegium organized a workshop about the upcoming Hungarian local elections to work up the different parts of the electoral regulation both from theoretical and practical point of view. The topics of the workshops covered the elements of the electoral system and the electoral procedure and dealt also with the speciality the election of the self-governments of the national minorities. Participants had the opportunity to set questions for the speakers who represented the academics, NGOs and electoral management bodies in Hungary.
Release of the Final Report on the GEO 2013 Conference
The UNDP released the final version of the Report on the 6th Global Electoral Organizations Conference that was held on 15-17 October 2013 in Incheon, Republic of Korea. The topic of the conference was ‘Sustainable Electoral Processes, Strengthened Democracy’. The report that you can find here contains the summaries of the sessions.

International conference: Electoral Processes across the CIS
11-12 November 2014, Minsk, Belarus
The Interparliamentary Assembly of CIS Member Nations in co-organization with the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus and the CIS Execom holds an international conference on Electoral Processes across the Commonwealth on 11-12 November 2014, in Minsk, Belarus. The discussion on the main topic of the conference will be supported by two thematic sessions: ’Election Laws and Law-Enforcement Practices in Europe and the CIS’ and ’Democratic Reforms in the Republic of Belarus: Improvement Plans and Results’.
24th Annual Conference and General Assembly Meeting of ACEEEO
According to the decision of ACEEEO’s General Assembly, the 24th Annual Conference of ACEEEO will be held in Chisinau, Moldova in September 2015.
The two main topics will be: ’Continuous training of electoral stakeholders’ and ‘Equality of voters, equality of votes’. Please save the date and attend our conference!
