Celebrating the Global Elections Day
6 February, 2014
This year it was already the 9th time that ACEEEO celebrated the Global Elections Day. The 2005 GEO conference decision opened new perspectives in acknowledging the important work of election officials, commemorating the democratic achievement and bridging citizens with the work of election administrators. Almost half of the ACEEEO member states have already joined us in celebrating the Global Elections Day on the first Thursday of February each year.
During this year, special conferences, seminars, workshops and discussions were organized in Hungary, Georgia, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Romania, Poland and Moldova. Political experts, representatives from the Embassies, Ministries, electoral bodies, non-governmental organizations and the media as well as students from different Universities and Schools attended the events across all the countries. Global Elections Day again gave a great opportunity for all member states to share experiences in the democratic process of their country on a national level.
You can find a more detailed description with photos of how each country celebrated the Global Elections Day here.
