The 23rd annual conference of the ACEEEO is just around the corner!

The 23rd Annual Conference and General Assembly Meeting of the Association of European Electoral Officials (ACEEEO) organized on 4 – 6 September, 2014 in Bucharest by the Permanent Electoral Authority of Romanian in cooperation with the Association’s Secretariat. The Conference will reflect on two current topics, both having theoretical and practical aspects and concern the work of the election management bodies: “Participation of Women in Electoral Process and Public Life” and “Planning of a General Election”.
This year we will give election practitioners, experts an insight of current challenges and best practices related to the ‘Participation of Woman in Electoral Process and Public Life’ and 'Planning of a General Election’.

Global and regional trends in electoral management
Side event of the 23rd Annual Conference of ACEEEO
On Day 0 of ACEEEO’s 23rd Annual Conference (4 September), ACEEEO is organizing a side event in cooperation with Association of World Election Bodies (A-WEB) with the topic ‘Global and regional trends in electoral management’. This topic will provide an opportunity to give a snapshot about the current best practices and problems of electoral management bodies in different regions of the world.
After a general introduction of global organizations who have an overview about the universal issues, representatives of regional organizations of electoral management bodies and representatives of electoral management bodies from each region (Europe, America, Middle-East, Africa) will present their practical experiences in different regions. Participants will also be offered a comprehensive view on the trends of electoral management.
The speakers will focus on the following issues: steps to enhance universal suffrage; transparency of electoral law-making process; impacts and changes to electoral systems and their effects on representation; integrity of elections; development in remote voting; changes of voter turnout; using of ICT in electoral process; financing of political parties and electoral campaigns; judicial review of elections; participation of vulnerable groups in electoral procedure; use of election technology. The participants of the event are invited to share their experiences from their own county or region.
This event will be carried out in English and Russian.
