| Participants
of the Conference of Global Election Organizations in 2005,
launched an initiative to hold an annual Global Elections
Day on the first Thursday of February every year.
As
a consequence of this initiative, the Secretariat celebrated
the Global Elections Day in 2007 as well in Hungary. The ACEEEO
Secretariat invited Hungarian election experts, election officials
and first time voters to this event to celebrate together
the day of democratic elections. Besides election experts,
we invited the diplomatic bodies of our member states. We
consider it as a privilege that several of them attended the
meeting.
To
our greatest honour His Excelleny László Sólyom, President
of the Republic of Hungary wrote a letter to the participants
on the occasion of Global Elections Day.
