Global Elections Day

1 February 2018

Dear Colleagues,

Today, on 1 February, we celebrate the Global Election Day. It has been already the 13th times since the historic ACEEEO Conference in 2005, where election experts from all around the world launched an initiative to commemorate this day on the first Thursday of February every year.

Today we celebrate the often unnoticeable work of the election officials which guaranties the continuation of a democratic and participatory order of every state.

Today the EMBs open up the doors of their offices underlining once again transparency in their work. They invite young voters, media and other stakeholders to present achievements in organization of the electoral process, but at the same time initiate conversation about the improvement of the processes.

On the occasion of the Global Election Day I would like to emphasize the importance of the work of the election administrators in building truly stabile democracies in their respective countries but also abroad, when observing electoral processes in other countries.

I want also to congratulate all staff of EMBs and wish you further success in your important mission.

Yours sincerely,

Zsolt Szolnoki

Secretary General
