International experience of applying sociology in Electoral processes

The ACEEEO General Assembly approved on our  Annual Conference in Constanta, Romania the project proposal to create an International Scientific Network of Elections. The main goal of this initiative is to use scientific, first of all sociological achievements for analyzing election processes.

As the first step toward realization of the initiative, we would like to include discussions on “International experience of applying sociology in Electoral processes” into the agenda of the 2009 Annual Conference to be held in Yerevan, Armenia.

Our idea is to discuss and compare the lessons already learned by sociologists about the election processes. Consequently, we didn’t conduct a new researches and we recommended to use already existing sociological results for those ACEEEO members, who joined the project.

We already agreed with a few sociologists upon their participation in advance, though we believe that further countries will join this initiative. The ACEEEO Secretariat intends to organize a working meeting in March-April 2009 in order to meet the authors of the country studies and to prepare discussing this topic in the course of the 2009 Yerevan conference.

In the future we intend to continue this sociological research with the help of voluntary researchers.
