In
accordance with the Constitution of the Ukraine the head of
state is the President, who is elected by Ukrainian citizens
on the basis of universal and equal suffrage by direct ballot
for a period of 5 years.
The
sole institution of legislative power in Ukraine is the Parliament
called Verkhovna Rada. Constitutionally the Ukrainian Verkhovna
Rada is composed of 450 people's representatives, whom are
elected by Ukrainian citizens on the basis of universal and
equal suffrage by direct and secret ballot for a term of 4
years.
The
Ukraine's Council of Ministers is the supreme institution
of executive power.
